Today Room 9 and 10 had Jodie from the Wanaka Fire Brigade come and visit. Jodie was impressed with how much we had learnt and remembered about how to be safe around fires. Jodie told us that it is really important that we know the safe meeting place for our family and that we know our address, or at least the street name, in case we had to ring 111. We also had some fun dressing up like a firefighter.

Friendship Bus Stop Sign
We finished the Friendship Sign last week, and we helped Doug put it up on Monday. We are so pleased with the way it has turned out. We can't believe that our idea last term has come to life and is being used by the whole school! We are so proud!
A special THANK YOU goes to Aaron Wright (Bella's Dad) for making the sign for us!

Adopt a Scientist Week - Room 9
This week Room 9 was lucky enough to have Jennie Taylor (Noa's Mum) come to talk to us about Geology. We looked at three different types of rocks - Igneous, Metamorphic and Sedimentary.
We used the private eyes to look closely at the rocks. Jennie told us that Geologists look at the colours of the rocks, how hard or soft the rocks are, what crystals they have in them and if they are magnetic to identify the different types of rocks.
Jennie also showed us what a sedimentary rock looks like and then she took it home and changed it by adding heat and pressure. We got to eat the finished product - metamorphic rocks! (aka cookies!)
Thanks Jennie and Noa.
