Adopt a Scientist Week - Room 9

This week Room 9 was lucky enough to have Jennie Taylor (Noa's Mum) come to talk to us about Geology. We looked at three different types of rocks - Igneous, Metamorphic and Sedimentary.

We used the private eyes to look closely at the rocks. Jennie told us that Geologists look at the colours of the rocks, how hard or soft the rocks are, what crystals they have in them and if they are magnetic to identify the different types of rocks.

Jennie also showed us what a sedimentary rock looks like and then she took it home and changed it by adding heat and pressure. We got to eat the finished product -  metamorphic rocks! (aka cookies!)
